"Plans fail for lack of counsel,
but with many advisors they succeed."
     - Proverbs 25,22
        (NIV)

People who have locked themselves into one way of thinking will likely miss a better solution because they have closed their minds to any new options.  Seek out the advise of those who know you and have a wealth of experience.  Then be open to new ideas and be willing to carefully consider their suggestions.  Your plans will be stronger and more able to succeed.

Allow FSF to help enlarge your vision and broaden your perspective.

PEACHCREST
CHRISTIAN
CHURCH

Loganville, Georgia

Peachcrest Christian Church dedicated their new multi-purpose building on March 3rd, 2002.  After the decision to relocate, the church did a thorough search and demographic study to select a site in a high growth area.  Their study concluded that a first phase building should be a sanctuary as well as a recreation facility, filling the local need for both worship and recreation.   The interior was designed to be highly durable as well as pleasing to the eye.  The blacked out ceiling area creates a theatrical feel as well as hiding the buildings' exposed structure and mechanical system.

The 14,000 square foot building was completed by Sparks - Grizzard Construction for a cost of $1,200,000.  The facility has a multipurpose sanctuary / gym / fellowship hall, classrooms, kitchen, nursery and foyer.

FEATURED ARTICLES
Interior and Exterior Design Guidelines by Jeffery M. Seeley

Many churches need a place to start their discussions on how big a new facility should be.  Here are just a few of the many guidelines for church design:

Preschoolers needs 35 s.f. per child in classroom space.

Adult classrooms need 15 s.f. per person.

Sanctuaries need about 15 s.f. per person depending on the size of the sanctuary and the liturgical style.

Pew spacings are 12" back to front, unless the row exceeds 14 people.  At that point spacing increases depending on row length.

There should be one parking space for each 2 to 2.5 people in attendance.

A site can support about 100 members per usable acre. Usable acres are the actual acres minus setbacks, buffers, easements, flood plains and any unusable terrain.

There are many more rules of thumb that can be found in the interior guidelines and exterior guidelines that are available on FSFarchitects.com

PROJECT IN PROGRESS
HARTWELL
FIRST BAPTIST CHURCH

Hartwell, Georgia

The new addition to Hartwell First Baptist is currently under construction and expected to be completed this Fall.  The building will house a weekday preschool as well as the new choir suite and fellowship hall.  Visible on the right of the picture is the new entrance that provides a new foyer and accessibility to the sanctuary building.  A new elevator is included for providing access for the addition as well as the existing buildings.

The exterior of the new building is designed to complement the existing traditional Sanctuary Building in downtown Hartwell.  The 20,000 square foot facility is being construction by Trehel Corporation of Clemson, South Carolina for an approximate cost of $2,000,000.
