For the revelation awaits an
appointed time; it speaks of the end and will not prove false. Though it
linger, wait for it; it will certainly come and will not delay. God has reserved a storehouse of blessings for each of us. However, many want it on their own timetable and are not willing to wait. We must each be patient, building our character and experience. Only when we are truly ready will we be blessed.

Christ the King Lutheran Church is completing it's first year in its new education facility. The building was completed in May 2002. The facility was designed around maximizing educational spaces, primarily for Sunday School and preschool classes during the weekdays. Operable partitions in the preschool rooms allow for smaller classes on the weekends. The project also included an expansion to the Fellowship Hall, doubling its size, and a commercial size kitchen. Also an important part of the project were the additional foyers and the enlargement of the Narthex to help accommodate the three worship services every Sunday. The 9,000 square foot building was completed by ELCA Mission Builders and Christ the King Members. Visit this project and others on our website. |

Changing Nature of Church Design - Part 2 by Robert C. Foreman The last newsletter discussed why churches are changing in the 21st century. This month we discuss how, by looking at the following: Exterior Appearance: The emphasis on more economic buildings and the trend to make church buildings less intimidating to the unchurched are resulting in simpler exteriors with less ornamentation and trim. Foyers and Gathering Spaces: Foyers are getting larger to accommodate multiple services and large numbers of people who use the foyer as a place of fellowship between services. The Welcome Center serves as an important source of information and directions to visitors and new members. Worship Spaces: Worship spaces are becoming more theater-like, often without windows, with theater seating and platforms resembling a performing arts stage. Fellowship and Educational Space: These spaces are usually multi-function to allow the greatest function for the construction dollar. The quality of space provided for preschoolers must equal commercial day care facilities as churches compete with private businesses. The Megachurch: The very large churches provide a wide array of events and programs, offering a full range of alternatives to secular entertainment and education. Conclusion: As the modern church seeks to provide ministries relevant to 21st century life, it must be ready to provide the tools needed to allow it to minister to the whole person. SNELLVILLE
CHRISTIAN CHURCH
Snellville, Georgia
|
|||
| During their Master Planning Phase, Snellville Christian Church discovered that while they appeared to have reached the capacity of the buildings, there was an abundance of wasted space. This changed the current thinking away from new construction and towards better utilization of existing spaces. Almost the entire facility will receive a facelift and a new foyer will be constructed, changing the appearance of the facility. The contractor will be Morgan Contracting of Lilburn, Georgia. | ||||
