"These are the names of David's
mighty men: Much of David's success was from his ability to develop his inner circle. His strong leadership attracted others of leadership. He depended on the varied gifts of those people to give insight and reinforce his leadership. In return, his inner circle showed tremendous loyalty through adversity. He also delegated responsibility based on each persons abilities. Much in the same way as David, a Building Committee Chairman must surround himself with other members that compliment the team and will bring success to the project.

FIRST BAPTIST CHURCH
Hartwell, Georgia Dr. F. Hugh Kirby, |
||
|
On November 24th, Hartwell First Baptist dedicated its new education and fellowship hall building. The majority of the project featured a nursery suite and grade school education area, housing more than 200 students. The ground floor features a 200 seat fellowship hall with a commercial kitchen. The second floor is complimented with the new music suite, featuring choir practice, handbell room, robing and storage.
New entrances and foyers provide much needed handicap access to the new building as well as the existing buildings. A new entrance and elevator foyer provides access from the new parking lot and also serves to connect the new building with all three stories of the existing sanctuary building and with the gym. |

| Trehel
Corporation of Clemson, South Carolina was the contractor on this $
2,125,000 addition. The overall project was completed two months ahead
of schedule and with enough cost savings to allow many additional features
at no additional cost to the Owner.

| Forming
a Church Steering Committee by Robert C. Foreman, President As we approach the new year, many groups begin to form a committee to work on their new building project. A well thought out steering committee will make a project smoother and help insure success. An ideal steering committee size is no less than seven people and no more than 10. The committee should have both men and women, younger people as well as older. These people need to be visionary leaders who represent the entire congregation, but not necessarily those in the construction industry. A small committee (steering committee) would be organized as follows: 1. Chairman (A leader) The chairman should be a key church leader who can work well with a diverse group of people, and who will guide them both organizationally and spiritually. The chairman must look at the "big picture" and be willing to leave the details to others. He must be committed to what the church is doing. The entire article is available on FSFarchitects.com |
