"The Lord said, "Go out and stand on the mountain in the presence of the Lord, for the Lord is about to pass by."  Then a great and powerful wind tore the mountain apart and shattered the rocks before the Lord, but the Lord was not in the wind.  After the wind there was an earthquake, but the Lord was not in the earthquake.  After the earthquake came a fire, but the Lord was not in the fire.  And after the fire came a gentle whisper.  When Elijah heard it, he pulled his cloak over his face and went out and stood at the mouth of the cave."

ZION BAPTIST CHURCH

Braselton, Georgia

On September 25th, Zion Baptist Church celebrated the Grand Opening of their new facility, relocating from the nearby church.  The four month construction period saw a 160,000 square foot cell phone manufacturing plant, purchased from Mitsubishi, transformed into a modern church facility.

The major changes occurred in the preschool suite, expansive foyer and 1000 seat worship space.  Even after doubling the size of the old facility, the church still has 100,000 square feet into which to grow.

Catamount Constructors of Roswell was the contractor and CCL Associates of Roswell was the project manager.

FEATURED ARTICLE
Church Relocation by Robert C. Foreman

Before you decide to relocate your church, there are important questions that need to be asked:
1. Why relocate?
2. How large a congregation do we envision becoming in the future?
3. What kind of church do we see ourselves becoming?
4. How will we handle change?
5. What impact will our church have on the new community?
6. Will the move leave some of our "family" behind?
7. Is this move financially feasible?

Guidelines for site selection after you decide to relocate your church:
1. Location convenient to your present congregation.
2. Location near people who are moving into a growing community.
3. High visibility location.
4. Ease of access to site - people need to be able to get to your location.
5. Availability of utility services - sewer, water, gas, etc.
6. Site large enough to handle your present and future needs.
7. Site with reasonable development costs.
8. Location where there are not too many local established churches.
9. Cost of property is reasonable.
10. Location to which you are directed by the Holy Spirit.

PROJECT IN PROGRESS
PUMPKINVINE BAPTIST CHURCH

Dallas, Georgia

Pumpkinvine Baptist Church has been growing at a steady pace, but that pace has passed the limits of their existing site.  The church has made an effort to acquire several adjacent properties.  This new land will allow that expansion of the parking and facilities to accommodate their continued growth.
